My Cosplay Beginnings!

Well here I am taking a huge step and beginning my blog/website to document my cosplay journey! It’s a big step for me for a few reasons, the first being I am a shy person and suffer with anxiety so being this open about things doesn’t come naturally to me. But over the last few years my confidence has grown to a point where I am ready to start my documenting my cosplay journey!

I’ve always been a bit of geek!! And I am proud of that fact. I love gaming, Batman, other DC comics, Star Wars (to name just a couple things!!)…and I have always been amazed at the cosplayers I have seen online. But my anxiety got the better of me and I had decided that cosplay wasn’t for me because of my size, because I’m shy, because I don’t know how to sew!

Obviously, I don’t feel like that now and that is in part down to the fact that I started my strongwoman (a fabulous sport where we lift awkward heavy things for fun!!) journey in 2019 and the confidence that gave me started to churn the wheels of thought to costumes. After some long drawn out conversations with myself and my husband, I decided to take the plunge. I thought why not just do it, make a Star Wars costume from scratch! Use the process to learn new skills and in turn improve my confidence even more and let the real me shine through!

What I have learnt so far is my anxiety was messing with me because it doesn’t matter who you are, or your size or skill level – cosplay is for everyone!

So my first costume was started February 2020 before the world got locked down, and here I am nearly 18 months later and I am so close to finishing part of my resistance pilot costume – the more I complete the more excited I become!! I can not wait to get this finished!

I have definitely caught the cosplay bug and already have far too many cosplans! But I am going to take it slow, do little bits and pieces to learn the skills, get used to the materials and make some absolutely awesome props and things in the process!

so welcome to my general ramblings and cosplay journey – thank you for taking some time and I will try to update this regularly with updates!! Don’t forget to follow my cosplay, PT company and personal page on Instagram to get more updates on all things strength and cosplay!

Finally, I am completely new to all this so I do ask that you bear that in mind when having a look around and most importantly be kind!

Stay Strong!

Until next time….
